Prepare for the MSM firestorm
The lead sentence today reads...WASHINGTON - A Pentagon spokesman said Friday that he believes the military's investigation is winding down into allegations that Marines committed unprovoked killings of as many as two dozen Iraqi civilians.

What bothers me about this story is I fear our MSM and other anti-war hacks will use this one isolated incident as a pulpit to grand-stand on how terrible the situation is in Iraq. No, I'm not saying this is something to be taken lightly. If anyone fires on innocent and unarmed civilians, they should be tried for murder. But I don't believe the entire U.S. Marine Corp or the mission in general should be convicted of this particular crime.
The problem with our society is the knee-jerk reaction by many anti-war folk to highlight, almost celebrate anything negative that comes from Coalition forces. Remember Abu-Grab and the media firestorm that set off? How about the accusations of torture at Guantanamo? Better yet, just take a look at your local news on a daily basis and read the countless stories of death and destruction in Iraq.
When was the last time you read a story about the schools and infrastructure getting built in Iraq? When was the last time you read about individual Iraqis opening businesses and taking part in commerce for the first time in their lives? When was the last time you read about the simple freedoms we all take for granted here in America being celebrated in a country that has suffered for decades? Guess the media doesn't find those topics sexy enough.
But here comes a story of murder by some Marines. It doesn't look good by any stretch. But you can bet this will be played as the sum of all fears of how flawed the mission has become in Iraq. You can bet this will be the talking-point for the next several months of why we should leave Iraq now.
All I ask of these anti-war individuals is to take a step back and think about how many innocent civilians are killed on a daily basis by these insurgent Islamic-radicals. Ask yourself if you're willing to for-go the mission to free the world of terrorism because of this one incident.
Sadly the answer is yes. The moment the first person died in Iraq; democratic leaders turned their backs on the mission just as they did in Vietnam. Over 2 million civilians died after we withdrew there. Draw your own conclusions of what could happen if we withdrew from Iraq...
