If it bleeds it leads

Many people have asked me over the past 24-hours what I thought about the Israeli air strikes in Qana that resulted in dozens of civilian deaths. To which I answered, "I'm not surprised."

An apathetic answer to most, but not when you understand the true nature of the story. It's nothing new for terror organizations to hide behind civilians. I mentioned it over the weekend and many bloggers like Stop the ACLU and Allahpundit have the visual proof.

It's the ultimate sadistic double-standard that fuels the Islamic rage and unfortunately our media's love of blood. Try to follow the understanding here...

Terror organization vows the death of Israel and western society.
Terrorist organization sends suicide bombers into crowded restaurants; kills hundreds.
Terrorist organization sends suicide bombers into crowded trains and buses, kills hundreds.
Terrorist organization kidnaps Israeli soldiers from Israeli territory.
Terrorist organization fires rockets into civilian heavy cities without the slightest military presence.
Israel fights back by attacking military installations and infrastructure.
The world tells Israel to restrain themselves.
Terrorist organization hides weapons and fighters next to civilians.
Israel drops leaflets warning civilians to leave.
Israel targets terrorist installations with resulting collateral damage.
The world rails on Israel for the death of civilians.

Am I missing something here, or has the mainstream media completely lost their ability to report the full story. The New York Times ran a reaction story with the following lead that tells it all...
DAMASCUS, Syria, July 30 — The images of the dead children in southern Lebanon played across the television screens on Sunday over and over again — small and caked in dirt and as lifeless as rag dolls as rescuers hauled them from the wreckage of several residential buildings pulverized hours earlier by the Israeli Air Force.

But not once was there mention of the Hezbollah tactic of using women and children as human shields. In fact, not one wire reporter injected the truthful reasoning for the deaths of so many civilians. Surely a reporter wants to know who, what, when, where and Why??? "Why" being the important question here.

But as Sister Toldjah says, "Qana is like Israel's version of Abu Ghraib." The story of civilian deaths is far sexier when it comes at the hands of Israel, as opposed to Hezbollah. Just think back to the international outrage to Hezbollah firing rockets with reckless abandon into civilian neighborhoods in Israel. No, you aren't losing it, there was no outrage. Nor has there been outrage at the countless suicide bombings, the savage beheadings, and the random shooting of Jews in Seattle.

Could it be the mainstream media is anti-Semitic? Is this a case of where they just expect barbaric tactics from terrorists so they no longer report on them? Or could they be milking the blood for those elusive ratings? Michelle Malkin has more details on this story. But if you want my opinion on this issue, I'd suggest people focus more on how much Hezbollah regards human life. Then ask yourself if it's any surprise they would hunker down in a weapons bunker with scores of women and children with wire photographers’ two doors down. To them death is martyrdom and the American media is a propaganda utter waiting to get milked.
